Free Workshops

Workshops are available throughout Vermont for each of the six Self-Management Programs. These workshops provide a supportive atmosphere for participants to focus on building skills to manage their conditions by sharing experiences and providing mutual support. All of the programs are free to any Vermonter who meets the program requirements. Find a workshop that works for you.

Healthier Living Workshop: Chronic Disease @ Bennington Senior Center | Williston | Vermont | United States

Chronic Disease Self-Management is a program that focuses on problems that are common to individuals dealing with any chronic condition such as pain management, nutrition, exercise, medication use, emotional health and communicating with health care providers. Chronic Disease Self-Management is a workshop given over 2 ½ hours, once a week, for 6 weeks.

The Diabetes Prevention Program is for people at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. It helps those at risk learn about healthy eating and physical activity habits that have been proven to reduce the risk of developing the disease and provides a supportive atmosphere for lifestyle changes. It is facilitated by a trained Lifestyle Coach. Each workshop is a 12-month program that has 16 one-hour-long weekly core sessions, followed by 6-8 one-hour-long monthly sessions.

Tobacco cessation programs focus on helping people quit smoking. These workshops are led by a trained Vermont Quit Partner and meet one hour a week for 4 to 6 weeks—however, many tobacco cessation programs are offered on an ongoing basis, with rolling admission. Participants may join at any time, and, on average, attend for 6 sessions. Tobacco Cessation programs are supported by the Vermont Department of Health, Tobacco Control Program.
